Secondary Transfer to Year 7 in September 2016

National Allocation Day:  1 March 2016

The Local Education Authority will notify allocated school places on Tuesday 1 March 2016. 

Parmiter's School will send out offer letters on 2 March 2016.  Notification letters will be sent on 2 March 2016 only to unsuccessful applicants where Parmiter's School is an unsatisfied higher preference.  Parents with unsatisfied preferences may refer to the post allocation pages on Herts Direct:

Please note that parents applying under Criteria: 2, 4 ,5, 6, 7 or 8 will need to provide proof that the home address quoted is the permanent residence of the applicant.

NB:  The number of intended admissions for September 2016 will be 208.   Places that are allocated as a percentage of the intake will be as follows:

Criterion 2: Proximity (10%) 21 places
Criterion 5: Academic Assessment (25%)51 places
Criterion 6: Music (10%)20 places

Parents of children currently in Year 5, who wish to apply for a place in Year 7 for Secondary Transfer 2016 under Academic or Music, must have taken an entrance test.  Registration for the tests closed on Friday 19 June.  Further information can be obtained from the SW Herts Consortium website:

Please note that we are not able to advise on whether an entrance test score will gain a place for Secondary Transfer 2016.  Statistical information regarding previous years' cut-off scores can be viewed here .

Academic Test Only

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO NOTE:  Following an analysis of the results from all seven Consortium schools, the average score, after the change to the new Verbal Reasoning Test, is now roughly 25 marks lower.  Therefore, in order to compare your child's score for entry in September 2016 with previous years, it is necessary to add 25 to the total academic score.

Parmiter's School Open Day

Parmiter's School Open Day was held on Wednesday 30 September 2015 and the school was open for morning visits during most of October. 

Please note that we are not able to arrange tours of the school at other times during the school year.

The deadline for Secondary Transfer applications was 31 October 2015.  Applications should be made on the Secondary Transfer 2016 application form (SIF).  Applications must also be submitted to your home Local Authority.  For Hertfordshire residents, applications should be completed and returned online to Hertfordshire County Council:

Secondary Transfer to Year 7 in September 2017

Parents of children currently in Year 5, who might apply for a place in Year 7 for Secondary Transfer in September 2017 under Academic or Music, must register with the South West Herts Consortium.  Registration for the tests will open in May 2016 and will be available via the SW Herts Consortium website:

The entrance tests are normally held in September but the dates are not yet available.
