International Space Challenge

Year 9 students from Parmiter’s and surrounding schools took part in a language and science/engineering challenge at Parmiter’s School on Tuesday 28th November.  Before planning and making a space hotel, students listened to a keynote talk by an ex-interpreter for the RAF and the Head of Teaching and Learning at the National Space Centre spoke about the challenges of low-earth orbit. Each team then had to market their space hotel in their target language (French, German or Spanish) and give an engineering presentation to a panel of judges.  The two winning teams won a day out at the National Space Centre, which includes a Planetarium Show and a Space Masterclass.  The students ended the day with a language taster in Russian which they enjoyed.

Well done to the St Georges’ and Ashlyn’s teams who won, with Parmiter’s taking a second place.  Congratulations to Abbi Sudharson and Max Liebmann from Parmiter’s who were awarded a special prize for their individual contributions to the challenge.
