Sixth Form Admissions

We received a high number of applications for Sixth Form entry in September 2021 from external students and have now made offers.   If we still have places available on our courses after our registration process has finished in August, we will publish a list of these subjects on the school website.

Sixth Form Admissions Policy 2021

Sixth Form Admissions - September 2021

In addition to the many Parmiterians who continue their journey into our exceptional Sixth Form, we also welcome many new students who join the school to undertake their A Level studies.

All students (both internal and external) need to achieve a minimum of 33 points in their six best full-course GCSE results to qualify for a place in the Sixth Form at Parmiter’s.  Students then need to meet the entry requirements for each A Level subject they wish to study.  We understand that students may change their minds about which subjects they wish to study between declaring an interest and results day; students will be able to change their subject choices as long as they fit with the options blocks and provided there is space on the course.

The process starts with the Sixth Form Open Evening, held in October.  This provides an opportunity for prospective students and their parents to speak to departments and explore both the topics covered in various subjects and the experiences of current students.   We will provide an update as soon as we can regarding the next Sixth Form Open Evening.

Our current Year 11 students will be asked to give details of the subjects they wish to study to A Level.   Their choices will be discussed with them and advice and guidance offered as appropriate.

Students from other schools wishing to apply to Parmiter's Sixth Form must complete the online application form.  This is for external students only and the deadline is 1 December.  Applications received after the deadline will be processed after on-time applications.

Once we have received the application form we will ask each student’s current school for GCSE predictions. We then make offers based on these predictions and the availability of our courses. We make around 160 offers each year with the aim to recruit about 50 students into our Sixth Form.

If an offer is made, we will invite the student to visit the school during one afternoon between February and April for a tour with current Sixth Formers and a meeting where Sixth Form life and study at Parmiter’s can be discussed further.  This is, of course subject to Covid restrictions.

In June there is an Induction Day for all Parmiter’s Year 11 students and external students with offers. This is a great opportunity for students to meet, mix and get a feel for the Sixth Form and the subjects they wish to study.   At this event, students will be made aware of the Summer Tasks to undertake for each subject, to ensure they are prepared for their A Level study. For students studying Mathematics and/or Further Mathematics there will be additional information regarding the Mathematics Entrance Test, which takes place prior to the start of the Autumn Term.

Once enrolled, we run a programme of induction in September for all new Year 12 students to ensure they feel fully integrated into the Sixth Form at Parmiter’s.

Once the GCSE results have been published in August and our registration process has been completed, we will publish a list of courses that still have places.  If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Officer by email:
