Year 7 in 2020

We are very pleased that your child will be joining us in September.  This page will be kept updated with details of our transition events and other important information.

Diagnostic Tests - Saturday 25 April 2020 - CANCELLED

The Diagnostic tests scheduled for Saturday 25 April 2020 have been cancelled.  Arrangements will be made for the tests to be taken at a future date and this will be notified to parents when the school reopens.

Transition Information Evening - Tuesday 9 June 2020 - 4pm - 7pm

The evening will run from 4pm to 7pm, but you are welcome to arrive when you are able to and you can stay for as long as you feel necessary.  The evening will be very informal, but to allow you time to fully benefit from the evening, please aim to arrive by 6.30pm at the latest.

The main purpose of the evening is to enable you to speak to some of our teaching staff about core subjects including Literacy and Mathematics as well as finding out more information about aspects of life at Parmiter’s including the following:

  • Literacy and reading
  • Numeracy
  • School finance and transport
  • ICT including E-safety and Google Education
  • School health
  • Lockers
  • Curriculum support
  • Parents Association
  • Essential stationery and equipment 

Members of senior staff and members of the Year 7 team will be available should you have any questions or concerns that you would like to speak to us about.  In addition, you will be able to order PE kit from our approved supplier who will be here to measure your child.  Our uniform suppliers will also be available to advise on uniform purchases.    During the evening, the Parents’ Association will be holding a second hand uniform sale.   We are sure that you will find it a very useful and informative evening.

Headmaster's Welcome - Wednesday 8 July - 7pm

This meeting is for parents only and will take place in the school hall from 7pm until approximately 8.30pm.

Induction Day - Thursday 9 July - 8.50am     

Students should arrive no earlier than 8.45am and no later than 8.55am.  Students will be ready to be collected at 2.30pm outside the school gates in the turning circle.  Please beware, High Elms Lane is likely to be congested both in the morning and afternoon, please allow plenty of time as we will start and finish promptly.

Students do not have to wear school uniform but must dress appropriately for the day.  As they will be taking part in teambuilding sessions outside, they should wear trainers.  It would be useful to bring with them a pen or pencil and a small notebook.  There will be a short break mid-morning and students should bring refreshments.  Students also need to bring a packed lunch.  Food will not be available for any Year 6 students.
